CBCT/Digital X-Rays
Ferris Orthodontic Group is the only orthodontic practice in Santa Barbara to offer Planmeca CBCT (Cone Beam Computer Assembled Tomography) imaging to all of our patients.
CBCT/Digital X-Rays
CBCT is a special type of x-ray imaging that provides an improved, comprehensive diagnosis for the patients.
CBCT allows Dr. Ferris and Dr. Quinn to provide the most accurate, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan for their patients.
- This technology is sometimes referred to as 3-D radiographs or x-rays. Using CBCT means we can take 3-D images of your teeth, jaws, bones, and facial structure, allowing us to visualize the tooth structure, where they are within the jaws, and where the jaws are in relation to each other and the head. The airways and temporomandibular joints are also evaluated.
- Before we had access to this 3D technology, we were essentially making educated guesses from the 2D images. This technology, however, allows us to know exactly where the teeth are within the bone and therefore know exactly where they need to be moved to finish in the ideal position.
- Understandably, you may have questions about radiation exposure with these types of digital x-rays. CBCT/digital x-rays offer our patients enhanced diagnostic value at significantly reduced exposure than traditional full-mouth x-rays.
